The western grey would not live in the tropical north or perhaps the fertile south-east of Australia. The japanese grey will not live around the NSW-South Australia border, but the two species are the two typical in the Murray-Darling Basin space. It feeds at nighttime, mainly on grasses and forbs but in addition on leafy shrubs and reduced trees.
